Nestled in the wild and wondrous landscapes of South Iceland lies Mid-Grund, our family farm where generations have lived, worked, and grown together with the land.
I’m Martina Holmgren, founder of Hestar og Fjöll, and together with our three children, we are proud to be the sixth generation to call this place home. We offer guided riding tours through Iceland’s most stunning landscapes.

Our multi-day horse trekking tours in Iceland let you experience the colorful rhyolite peaks of Landmannalaugar, the glacier valleys of Eyjafjallajökull, the lush Þórsmörk valley, and the dramatic landscapes of Tindfjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. Along the way, you’ll also ride across Iceland’s world-famous Black Sand Beach, river valleys, and hidden mountain trails — discovering the country’s wild and untouched nature.
Hestar og Fjöll offers several unique multi-day tours, available during the riding season from spring to autumn. You can bring your own horse or ride one of our well-trained Icelandic horses.
